A unique garden tour focused on growing food and beverage plants, while celebrating community, connection, and creativity.
We’re taking everything we’ve learned from our first two years to make our 3rd tour in 2021 the best yet!
The third Swissvale Edible Garden Tour will be August 6 - 8, 2021.
FRIDAY, AUG 6: Join us for the kick-off evening outside at Pittsburgh Mennonite Church from 6PM-8PM. Swap homegrown tomatoes, hear from Farmer Girl Eb, and chat with local composters.
SATURDAY, AUG 7: The "Open Gardens" tour, where visitors are invited inside private gardens to meet and chat with the gardeners will take place on Saturday, August 7 from 11AM-3PM.
SUNDAY, AUG 8: Spend the afternoon in the Swissvale Community Garden! From 1PM-4PM we'll have children's activities with Miss Cassidy Creates (1PM), a chat about growing fruit in urban gardens (2PM), and planting of a fruit bush or tree in the garden (3PM).
Throughout the weekend we'll also feature the Nebby Neighbor Garden Walk, where participants can get a glimpse into gardens from streets and sidewalks at their own pace from 8AM-8PM. There will also be a scavenger hunt map available to make it extra fun for kids to experience the gardens.
The Swissvale Edible Garden Tour is a project of the Swissvale Community Action Committee (SCAC), supporting the Swissvale Community Garden (located at the corner of Collingwood and Denniston Aves.) SCAC is comprised of impassioned residents of the Borough of Swissvale. The mission of SCAC is to connect Swissvalians to create a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable community.
